Poïétique Habitat, l’atelier des saisons

01 · The project
Set in the heart of the Solutré-Pouilly wine landscape, the project explores the relationship between architecture, nature and time. It offers a hybrid space, able to change with the seasons to meet the shifting needs of farm workers and local craftspeople.

02 · Programme & uses
During the harvest, the building houses seasonal workers in adaptable dwellings; out of season, it becomes a craft workshop, a place of making and passing on. This shift of use keeps the site continuously occupied, the architecture never sleeps half the year.

03 · The site
Douglas fir, a local timber, gives the whole a warm atmosphere, and the ruin on site is taken in and preserved: it becomes the anchor point of the new build. Wide openings frame the vines; natural insulation and cross ventilation do the rest. Demountable and reusable, the work is designed to be able to leave without a scar.
