Vénissy Habitat
01 · The project
Vénissy Habitat belongs to the urban transformation of Vénissieux: domestic and public space are articulated there in a fluid continuity. Conceived as an open block, the project favours porosity and crossing over enclosure.
02 · Programme & uses
The planted heart structures the whole: a shared garden reachable from several entrances, it turns the outside into an extension of the home. The flats are through-plan, dual-aspect, and their extensions, balconies, loggias, planted access galleries, act as in-between spaces linking inside and out.
03 · The site
Seventy-five dwellings, from two to four rooms, a student residence and a five-hundred-square-metre public building share the same block; on the top level, the roofs become shared gardens. Brick and concrete, worked in alternating textures and reliefs, keep continuity with the neighbourhood’s existing fabric.
