01 · The project
Interior surveys are carried out unit by unit, flat after flat, and the services are redrawn. It is slow work that yields no spectacular image: it yields a record of the existing on which every later decision will rest.

02 · Programme & uses
At 37 rue des Trois Frères, the building is examined before being repaired. Eleven investigation pits are opened at the foot of the walls, located and dimensioned one by one: you do not repair foundations you have not seen.

03 · The site
Three years later comes the site work. The old stairwell was holding up part of the building: it took a temporary structure, removal, a transfer of loads, then a new staircase. Between the survey and the trowel, it is the same file carrying on.
