01 · The project
On rue des Rosiers, an old building in the 4th arrondissement is taken in hand entirely. Before drawing anything, the damage had to be recorded: ceilings opened, joists laid bare, disorders surveyed room by room. Here the site photographs are case documents as much as images.
02 · Programme & uses
The timber structure analysis sets out what the eye cannot settle: where the joists bear, what can stay, what must be repaired. The ground and first floor plans, and the elevation, give every party a common basis, this is the stage where the tender file is built.
03 · The site
Then comes the site work: the upper floor structure is prepared, the façade is strengthened, and the building holds while it is being repaired. Working on old Parisian fabric means agreeing to draw upon what exists, and to redraw when opening up reveals something else.
