Éco-lodge, la Fosse aux Carpes
01 · The atmosphere
The stance taken is biomimicry. The rooms draw on the cocoon of the Sisyridae: a timber structure easy to assemble and take down, fitting into the natural setting while minimising its impact. The observatory echoes a heron’s nest, and the restaurant stands on stilts above the water.
02 · Material & light
Two circulations are drawn, one reserved for the lodge, the other open to the public, without the lodge side ever being off limits. Locally sourced timber carries the whole, low-carbon concrete is kept for the restaurant, and La Fosse aux Carpes becomes a place of rest as much as a symbol: people and nature can hold within the same landscape.
03 · Uses
La Fosse aux Carpes is a former sand quarry in Draveil, on the right bank of the Seine, linked to the river by a channel. The site is protected for its natural diversity, and the land cannot be built on: the whole project consists in bringing the place back to life without ever weighing on what already lives there.
